WHITSTABLE OYSTER FESTIVAL
Saturday 21 & Sunday 22 July 2018
This year's festival has been scaled down to a 2 day weekend but sees the return of favourite events of previous years. The Festival starts off on Saturday 21st July 2018 at 9.45am with the Landing of the Oysters at Long Beach which are received by the Lord Mayor of Canterbury and blessed by the local clergy. It is then followed by the ever popular Oyster Parade from the Harbour at 11am through Whitstable's Harbour Street, High Street and Oxford Street. This is a colourful procession with amazing costumes and musicians including Whitstable's Samba Pelo Mar.
The Harbour Stage returns with two days of traditional and community programming on stage. On Sunday 22nd July 2018, the famous Oyster eating competition will take place in the harbour and the ever popular Grotters (part sponsored by Whitstable Holiday Homes) will be built and lit on Reeves Beach from 4pm until Twilight. Throughout the two days there will be a bigger and more spacious Food Fair on Tankerton Slopes, community events held at the Horsebridge Centre and around the town for you to enjoy. Visit www.whitstableoysterfestival.co.uk for more details of events.
We have a few properties still available for the week so you can sample the festival and then stay on to enjoy the rest of the week with your family and friends. See the table below for our current availability or call us on 01227 281800.
