In 2007, there was an incredible increase in second homes being purchased in the town and a high level of media interest inWhitstable's restaurants and art festivals. Whitstable Holiday Homes Ltd was created to meet the demand for short stay and weekly holiday rental accommodation in the town and offer a wide selection of unique seaside properties for families and friends alike. Whitstable Holiday Homes Ltd also provided the second home owners an opportunity to earn income when their homes were not being used.
